Megan founded Alpine Achievers Initiative in 2011 to meet the need for extra youth support in the rural area of the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. She continues to serve as the Executive Director and has leveraged over $8 million to support this multi-faceted organization.

In 2018, a licensed childcare provider in Salida, CO announced they would be closing, which was detrimental to the community because it was one of the few centers serving the county. Megan decided to team up with the Chaffee County Early Childhood Council (CCECC), and reach out to other community members and help establish the Chaffee County Childcare Initiative (CCCI). CCCI’s purpose is to develop solutions to the child care crisis our community is facing and has since purchased a building and established a schoolhouse for infants.

SLV Pride is a grassroots community collective of LGBTQ+ residents of the San Luis Valley and their allies. It represents a multitude of backgrounds and experiences supporting each other and their community through education, advocacy, and friendship.

Megan led West Lafayette Parks and Rec through their AmeriCorps planning grant helping them to develop and launch their AmeriCorps program. The Park Allies AmeriCorps program launched in fall of 2024. This program aims to further develop and conserve public greenspaces through service experience. AmeriCorps members serve with the goal of improving our public parks, land, and facilities and, thereby, improving health outcomes for our community!

Megan led Indy Parks through their AmeriCorps planning grant helping them to develop and launch their AmeriCorps program. Their AmeriCorps program supports greenspace stewardship and narrowing the Nature Gap within Marion County, Indiana. Facing racial and economic disparities affecting the well-being of communities of color by limiting access to public greenspaces.

Megan guided planning grant process for the Bright Futures organization, helping them to develop and launch their AmeriCorps program. Their program focuses on connecting members to the resources they need to pursue a career in education while working with youth.

Megan led the Archaeological Research Institute (ARI) through the planning grant process and supported their staff for the first year of the program offering a wide variety of support. ARI’s program focuses on providing technical training to members while preserving local history.

Megan supported the Homeward Bound team throughout their planning grant process. With Megan’s support Homeward Bound developed and launched an AmeriCorps program that supports communities through resources.
